My blog name

Some of you may be wondering about my username here, and one connection has even suggested that I need a better name. Well, I needed something spur of the moment as I was signing in and my motorcycle came to mind. I had originally thought that I may write mostly of my trips and rallys here, so I gave it the name it has.

  I ride a Honda VTX 1800, The letters stand for V-vee T-twin X-extreme, the 1800 is the displacement of the motor in c.c’s, I know, all technical and junk. What it boils down to is a huge motor with two cylinders angled in a Vee, hence the v-twin, see, simple. The 1800 c.c.’s part is the best part- it is a 1.8liter engine, when compared to a car, it is larger than most econobox motors.

It was, when built, the largest v-twin ever built, and one of the largest and most powerful motorcycle engines ever. It is not a “sportbike, or crotch rocket”, it is a bare bones cruiser, made for a nice long, comfortable ride. It was already very fast, and powerful, but, being the mechanical man I am, I took it apart, added a few things, took a few off, and made it go really fast. It is a 750lb fire breathing beast, breathing in through a hypercharger and exiting via twin 2inch tuned drag pipes. A cobra FI2000 fuel chip keeps the power up, and a 250 rear tire puts it to the ground. I like to go fast when I want to, and yes, I drag race it sometimes, I have seen 150 on the speedo more than once. But, I also like to lay back sometimes and just cruise, with my wife, or my daughter on the back. That is one of my greatest pleasures in life.

Oh, and for all the “greenies”, my bike gets between 48-52 mpgs, thats up in Prius territory, and I dont have to leave the ac off, or watch the little gauge to tell me when I’m saving fuel.
